Syan secured the acquittal of a man charged with possessing an illegal firearm.
The judge directed the jury to return a verdict of not guilty following a half-time submission by Syan that the Crown had failed to prove that the gun in the case was a ‘firearm’ as defined by the Firearms Act 1968.
