Counsel was Junior in the Court of Appeal resisting appeal against conviction after first successful conviction against major energy company for misleading commercial practices in relation to a doorstep salesman’s script. Counsel was led by Nicholas Haggan Q.C.
Our Prosecution Team successfully argued to uphold two convictions against SSE plc for breaches under the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008.
The Company was referred back to Guildford Crown for sentence.
This is the first Criminal Appeal case to consider any of the definitions under the relevant Regulations.
